The Inner Body Workout®

Capoeira

Capoeira is now available at the Oasis Monday through Thursday. A kid's class is offered every Saturday 12:15 to 1:15.  See the current schedule.   This energetic Brazilian workout is a fun and challenging game requiring physical stamina and mental strategy.  It combines elements of self-defense, acrobatics, dance, music, language, and culture all in one art form.  Not only is Capoeira fun, but it helps develop coordination, flexibility, endurance, and strength.  The first class is free.  For more information on Capoeira and rates, please see the website:  www.capdallas.com


Pilates Mat

Pilates Mat is a Yoga-based method created by Joseph Pilates which promotes muscular strenth, endurance and flexibility. It dramatically reshapes hips, thighs and buttocks through abdominal control.



Firm & Focus Fitness

This method combines standing Pilates and Modern Dance technique to develop flexibility and strength in a body that can bend, twist and turn with agility.  The essential and effective use of breathing, floor and standing work are intrinsic parts of this method.



Yoga

Release stress and anxiety as you connect body and spirit.  We offer Hatha Yoga that focuses on body and breath awareness, stress reduction through balance, muscular strengthening and toning with a flowing style.  We also offer a Restorative Yoga class.  Thie gentle stretching and rejuvenating class incoporates the physical and mental aspects of basic Iyengar Yoga postures.



Tai Chi

Improve your balance, increase your leg strength, and gain more energy with Tai Chi. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, May 3, 1995 Vol. 273, No. 17, p. 1341-1347,  the practice of Tai Chi helps reduce falls and injuries by 25%.  This class is the traditional warm-up of the Yang Short Form.


Feldenkrais
Awareness Through Movement® (ATM)

Feldenkrais ATM-Awareness Through Movement®: A Pre-Pilates method. Unlocks “frozen” parts of the body and corrects habitual patterns of tension and imbalance. In combination with the Inner Body Workout™, it speeds up the process of preparing the body to benefit from Pilates. Excellent for scoliosis.



NIA®
(Neuromuscular Integrative Action)

NIA® is a movement class that offers fitness for body, mind, and spirit. This non-impact cardiovascular method explores movements from modern dance, tai chi, jazz dance, creative movements and martial arts to stretch and tone both your muscles and your imagination.

Alexander Technique

A process of re-education to become consicous of how we use our body in our daily lives.  Discover the relationship of the head, neck, and torso to determine the most efficient use and functioning of the body.  Awareness of the dynamic balance leads to a change in habitual patterns of movement which are stressful to us.
